Why Pick A Green Laser Pointer?

The first laser pointers out on the market were the standard red light variety. These were followed shortly thereafter by a orange/yellow type that is still prevalent today. Eventually, green laser pointers were also made available. Why should you choose a green laser pointer?

Many factors go into how well the laser light from a laser pointer is viewed. These factors include: the strength of the light, the lens the light passes through, the reflectivity of the surface the light is pointed at, and the receptiveness of the human eye viewing the light.

If all things are equal, the green light will show up better. This is because the human eye is more sensitive to the lower light levels that lights in the green region of the light spectrum emit. Our eyes are just made to see green better than they are red or orange. So, if you’re buying a laser pointer and you want it to be more easily seen… make it green.
